CEDAR RAPIDS – Steve Thomas, former host of the PBS home renovation series, “This Old House,” stopped by the Frankie House today, which is undergoing renovation after its move last fall.
Thomas was in Cedar Rapids as part of Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz.
The Emmy award winner, who also hosted the acclaimed home improvement show, “Renovation Nation,” is recognized as the ultimate home enthusiast and an expert on home renovation who advocates for greener building techniques.
Jeff Capps, executive director of the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity, brought Thomas by the Frankie House, at 1425 Fifth Ave. SE, during a tour of the city.
The home, built in the late 1800s, was moved several blocks from its original site by Save CR Heritage to save it from demolition. The house will be on the market as soon as interior and exterior rehabilitation has been completed.
